Shantastic Studios
Exotic and Geeky Arts
Hey there! My name is Shandarra, I am a disabled artist and massive nerd. I grew up in Western Montana and am now Oregon based. Growing up rural made it hard to find something to do, especially when it snows 7 months of the year, so I had to find indoor hobbies. I always loved coloring pages in restaurants and class crafts at school, so my parents indulged me with kid level art supplies, encouraged my passions and I’ve never stopped.
My art is influenced by many things, mainly my love of cartoons, animals, color and other artists. I started by tracing characters from my favorite Saturday morning cartoons and anime. Those same shows still mean a lot to me today and I try to express that in my digital art. I also live my life in color through all mediums, so you might be blinded by some of my vibrant color choices. Speaking of mediums, you’ll see through my posts and portfolio that I am not exclusive with my supplies. I have experimented with the majority of mediums out there and always look forward to testing more - you can see this on my social media.
In 2022, my wonderful boyfriend gifted me with a Surface so I could start my digital journey. I have struggled with not having steady hands since I was a pre-teen, so digital art is like a gift from the gods, purely for the stabilization and versatility of the tools. A lot of current stock are pieces that started as hand drawings, which I digitized to get the practice in programs, then gave a “glow up” only possible in the digital world. Though drawing was predominately my medium of choice due to versatility and cost, digital tends to be the primary option, but to this day, I still do not have a favorite medium; if it's an expression of art, I am all for it.
People in my life have been telling me since high school that I should monetize my works in some way. In 2022, I opened as Shantastic Studios on social media and stared attending events as a vendor in late 2023. In addition to Facebook and Instagram, I now have a website to showcase my works and cater to those that wish to partake.
Thank you for reading part of my story. My portfolio showcases art from when I started cataloging it back in high school. More recent works can be found on social media and under the What’s New? tab. Please feel free to reach out with critiques, commissions, comments, or just to socialize about fandoms!
